This collection goes primarily towards the tuition and accommodation fees of students preparing for the priesthood, the permanent diaconate, and those lay faithful in vocational on-going formation in the Archdiocese of Armagh. We currently support students for the priesthood in Maynooth, in Rome, and at our own Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary in Dundalk who are preparing to be ordained as Priests for the Archdiocese of Armagh.

This collection is to support our clergy who have provided many years of pastoral care and service to our Archdiocese. The Archdiocese has currently around thirty retired priests, some continuing to help out in parishes, others in nursing homes or on long-term sick-leave.

The proceeds of the collection from Mission Sunday support young fledgling Churches worldwide including many Irish-founded missionary societies overseas. This includes building new faith communities, church buildings and parish centres, as well as helping to provide assistance for priests and sisters, lay catechists, and assisting in the effort to alleviate poverty.

This collection goes towards the support of the national services offered by the Irish Bishops' Conference, which include Pastoral Renewal and Youth Ministry; Catholic Education; Marriage, Family, Migrants & Pastoral Care; National Safeguarding of Children services; Communications; Worship & Faith Development. The Bishops' Conference also has various social outreaches, including a Drugs Initiative and support for Irish prisoners overseas.
